Laying Down Our Crowns
When we have crowns on our heads,
it is hard to bow down to the One who gave them to us.
We stand up straight in order to keep
our crowns on our heads,
but if we are going to bow down,
we must lay aside our crowns.
How can we bow down to the Lord if
we have crowns on our heads?
Many crowns will be offered to us from believers, unbelievers, and even God,
but we are called to lay them down constantly.
Never keep your crown on your head.
If you do, then you cannot bow down to the One who gave it to you.
And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks
to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever,
the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne,
and will worship Him who lives forever and ever,
and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You
created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created”
(Revelation 4:9-11).
Let us not to be concerned about our crowns on earth.
Even in heaven we are going to lay down our crowns to bow to Christ.
May the Lord forgive us for keeping our crowns on our heads.
